About Us

Hey Moms!
Welcome to Made to Milk, glad you stopped by. I'm Sarah-Jane, the woman behind the scenes here at Made to Milk USA, and this is my cute but crazy little family pictured above. I was born the 11th of 12 children and was raised on the stunning Gold Coast in Australia (look it up, and if you ever get the chance, you won't regret a visit!) but first moved here to the States in 2016. I'm so excited to, in some way, help you along your breastfeeding journey.

I was just 20 years young when I had my first baby (our beautiful Lily-Joy pictured left) and started this challenging but rewarding ride called Motherhood! Since then we've added another 3 girls and one boy (stuck in the middle of them all). So over the last decade, I've spent much of those years pregnant or breastfeeding (which I've both loved and loathed at times). I've birthed 2 of my babies at home and have been blessed with the support of incredibly strong and encouraging women around me to help me know I can push through the hard times (excuse the pun).

Well, the last few years have been quite the rollercoaster. Following my husband finishing his degree in 2015, we skipped his graduation and instead packed our bags for him to take up a job offer here in Salt Lake City, Utah. It was quite the sea-change (the beaches here in Utah just aren't the same ;)) but we absolutely loved it. Life seemed too good to be true... little did we know the curveball life would throw just a short time later. About 7 months into our adventure, I had a random and unexplainable stroke that left me limp on the left side of my body. Always trying to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle, I was shocked, confused and uncertain of the future. As I couldn't really use the left side of my body, I was quickly booked in for intense rehab in the weeks proceeding, becoming the baby of the family. Speaking of baby... we'd unsuccessfully been trying for another child in the months preceding the stroke. Following the stroke, we'd decided it wasn't the right time for me to be pregnant, given I couldn't walk properly and had a tough job ahead in rehab trying to get movement and strength back on my left side. Well God and my good husband had other plans... one little "accident" later and I was pregnant. I missed and longed for the support of my family... plus we were coming into winter here, so we decided to move back to Australia where most of my family live and so I could keep on with therapy in a warmer climate. Looking back that was a tough time with some dark days back I'm so glad for who it helped me become.

So where does Made to Milk come into all of this... well shortly after arriving back in Australia, my sister-in-law was struggling with breastfeeding and milk supply for her firstborn. As a solution, she was making "lactation cookies" for herself, which until that point I'd never heard of. She had so much success and was sharing the love with other mothers needing some help locally. Before long, Made to Milk was born in Australia. It's since helped thousands of breastfeeding mothers get the boost they need, myself included. I mentioned I'd fallen pregnant after my stroke, well in May of 2017 our little miracle, Aylah-Faith was born. I've struggled with supply in the past but not with Aylah, she's almost two and we're still going strong! Every morning she wakes me up for some "milky milky". Over the past couple of years whenever I've felt a drop in supply, I've relied on Made to Milk to get me through and give me the needed boost.

Back in the USA now, I'm excited to share the liquid gold inducing goodness with you! I look forward to getting to know you and helping you have a positive breastfeeding experience, whatever your nursing goals are. Feel free to reach out!
