About Us
Hey Mamas!
Welcome to Made to Milk! I'm Sarah, the owner and operator of Made to Milk USA. I was born and raised in Utah, as the youngest of 6 children. By a stroke of good luck, I also managed to meet my husband here, who just happened to have travelled all the way from his home in Australia. Thus, I was connected to Made to Milk through my sister-in-law who is the founder of Made to Milk and runs the mother company in Australia. Now I get to help mamas have successful breastfeeding journeys and it’s so exciting!
My own breastfeeding journey started when I was pregnant with my first little boy, I had a strong desire to breastfeed my baby when he was born. Unfortunately, my baby had his own plans, from his first moments he struggled with suction, breastfeeding was a struggle if it happened at all. For the first few months I pumped bottles for him while we tried to get to the root of the issue. We saw two lactation consultants, a speech therapist and had tongue and lip tie revisions done. None of this solved our issue or gave us any answers. By this time my baby was doing well with the bottle and the search to figure out the problem was getting more invasive. I didn't want to put him through anything else, he was happy, growing and I was already an old pro with pumping so we stopped our searching and I pumped milk for him until he was about eight months old. I also had milk stashed that he continued to have until he was 1 year old.
Now with my second little boy the experience has been completely different. It just wouldn't be motherhood if it didn't keep you on your toes! In the golden hour after his birth, he latched, no issue and has continued to be exclusively breastfed. It’s been kind of magical but also not without its highs and lows like being a human pacifier and experiencing more fluctuations in supply.
Breastfeeding is a tough job, that’s why it’s for moms, sorry dads! Sometimes its magical and sometimes it's not. Sometimes it's what you imagined and sometimes, it's just not. My first breastfeeding experience was not what I had imagined but both of my journeys have been so worthwhile and full of accomplishment, I would do it again.
That’s what I want to help other Mamas have, I want to provide mamas with products that will assist them with their journey, whether it's the one of their dreams or not. I want to help fill happy, little baby tummies because what’s better than a mama feeling accomplished and a milk drunk baby? Nothing!
Thanks for being here Mamas, thanks for reading.
It can be hard, but you've got this!
Made to Milk is here to support you.
